Quinone-Rresponsive Diseases

Edison is redox-optimizing CoQ10, or more precisely the “Q” in CoQ10. The “Q” is an abbreviation for “quinone”. The quinone is the core structure contained within the redox head of CoQ10, but is not unique to CoQ10. In fact quinones form the core structure of over 10 approved drugs, and over 40 currently in development. Interestingly, in many of these non-CoQ10 quinone-containing drugs, pharmaceutical researchers have also struggled to fully optimize them as well. Edison believes that it can readily extend its redox optimization skills being deployed in its CoQ10 programs to other quinone containing drugs. While not all quinone-containing drugs exert their action through a redox mechanism, there are groups that do that Edison believes are amenable to redox optimization. Edison’s extended marketplace are quinone-containing drugs whose mechanism is redox-based, and where there is sufficient value to be gained by building a better quinone. Disease indications in this category include cancer, metabolic and dermatologic diseases.
