Logic
Edison’s technical strategy is based upon defining energy metabolism and its redox reactions in electrical terms. At its most fundamental level, Edison is applying the governing law of conservation of electricity to the untapped market of redox and drug discovery. Kirchhoff’s Circuit Law– widely used in the physical sciences, addresses the constancy of electrical charge and is the foundation for the design of electrical circuits. The company has developed the biological counterpart of Kirchhoff’s Circuit Laws to interrogate discrete redox metabolic pathways. Edison is deploying a first generation of this model (simulator) to focus on metabolic pathways that pull high current loads and are vulnerable to failure and result in disease Currently, the heuristic behind this model is driving biological assay and analytical technology development.
