GDP (guanosine-di-phosphate)
A molecule that with the addition of a phosphate can be converted to GTP. Potential energy is stored in the bond between the phosphates.
genome
The sum total of all the genetic material that make up an organism.
glucose
The basic component of most foods. Glucose is a six carbon sugar molecule and is the starting molecule in the production of energy.
glycolysis
The process by which glucose is broken down to produce cellular energy.
GTP (guanosine-tri-phosphate)
A molecule similar to ATP and is used to store and provide cellular energy. Energy is released when GTP (with three phosphates) is converted to GDP (with two phosphates). ATP releases more energy when converted to ADP than the GTP to GDP conversion.
