  • Guy Miller, MD, PhD Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Edison Pharmaceuticals

    Guy Miller, M.D., Ph.D., is the co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Edison Pharmaceuticals. He is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine/Palo Alto Veterans Administration Medical Center, and attends patients in medical-surgical critical care. Dr. Miller is a co-founder of the Center for Bioenergetics, The Biodesign Institute, Arizona State University, where he currently holds an appointment as Clinical Faculty Member. Dr. Miller is an Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina, School of Public Health. Prior to founding Edison, he founded Galileo Pharmaceuticals, and was its Chairman and CEO from 1995-2005. Dr. Miller completed a surgical internship at the University of Chicago, and residency in anesthesiology & critical care medicine, and fellowship in multidisciplinary critical care at Johns Hopkins, where he was an Assistant Professor until 1995. Dr Miller holds an MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Virginia. Dr. Miller’s area of expertise is in the discovery and translation of redox-based mitochondrial targeted therapeutics.

  • Forrest Sawyer National Journalist

    Forrest Sawyer, is a veteran journalist and internationally recognized news and program anchor. Mr. Sawyer has over 30 years of experience and has held positions at ABC, CBS and MSNBC. His honors include the George Foster Peabody Award, seven National Emmy Awards, and two Edward R. Murrow Awards. Mr. Sawyer is the founder of FreeFall Productions, an award-winning documentary production company. Mr. Sawyer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Eastern philosophy and world religions and a Master of Education degree from the University of Florida. His postgraduate work is in environmental science.

    Paul Avery is Chief Operating Officer of OSI Restaurant Partners, LLC. Mr. Avery is a Founders Club member of the Great Outdoors Conservancy, a Board Member of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, Vice Chairman of Tampa Bay Watch and was President of the American Beverage Institute for three years. Presently, he is also an Honorary Trustee for Junior Achievement Enterprise Village of Hillsborough County, a Vice President on MDA National Board of Directors, and a Foundation Board Member of Kean University. Mr. Avery is also a Director for the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance.

Mr. Berg has been actively engaged in the ownership, development and management of R&D/office real estate and in venture capital investment for over 35 years. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Mission West Properties, Inc., Valence Technology, Inc., a developer of advanced rechargeable battery technology, FOCUS Enhancements, Inc., a developer of video scan conversion products, MoSys, Inc. a supplier of embedded memory for systems on a chip, and numerous other private technology companies. Berg & Berg Enterprises, LLC (BBE) & West Coast Venture Capital are the $550,000,000 private venture arm of Carl E. Berg and related Berg entities, with investments in over 100 companies around the world with a major interest in Silicon Valley technology. Mr. Berg holds a B.A. in business from the University of New Mexico.
