Edison’s area of expertise is in the biology of energy metabolism and in the medicinal chemistry of drugs that undergo reversible oxidation-reduction (redox), chemical reactions. Edison’s drugs are small molecules, with a molecular weight typically less than 500, that are orally bioavailable, and cross-couple into [malfunctioning] redox pathways. The Company is targeting redox disturbances that impair the generation of energy and/or redox-mediated signaling events that trigger inflammation, apoptosis, autophagy, and other disease-related biochemical cascades.
